Thunder players selected for Netball World Cup in Sydney

Manchester Thunder players Sara Bayman and Helen Housby have been named in the England World Cup squad. Interim coach Tracey Neville has selected her 12-strong team which will play in the sport’s biggest competition in Sydney in August. Black and Yellow’s captain Bayman, who has won a Commonwealth Games bronze during a successful international career, is joined by young shooter Helen Housby. Housby will be widely seen as a wildcard selection, but her heroics that won Thunder the Superleague title in 2014 and inclusion in the Commonwealth Games squad in Glasgow, have proven she is ready to play on the biggest netball stage. Thunder name new Coach

Adelaide Thunderbirds assistant coach Dan Ryan has been named as the new Thunder head coach. The coach heads to the Superleague from the Australian ANZ Championship side and is 'excited' to be joining Thunder at the 'perfect' time in his career. He takes over from Tracey Neville, who left Thunder to become interim England boss for this summer's World Cup in Sydney. Victoria-born Ryan, 31, won the title with the Thunderbirds in 2013 after joining the Southern Australia side in 2012. He also coached Southern Force in the ANL. Alongside his coaching experience, Ryan is a qualified journalist and freelance sports broadcaster, notably with Australia's Network Ten and travelled to Delhi, India in 2010 as part of the commentary team for the Commonwealth Games. Ryan, who plays goal attack for the Australia men's team, was widely tipped as the man to take the reins at the Thunderbirds after Jane Woodlands-Thompson announced in April that she would be stepping down. Tameside U14 take the Club National Title

Tameside Netball Club won the U14s Club national title after beating Chester in the final. Paul Harper's side were crowned champions after seeing off their north west rivals 18-15. On the way to the title, Tameside beat Mid Sussex, Turnford, Grangetown, Essex, Chevrons, and Royals, during the two-day tournament in Newcastle. Harper, who is also Thunder NPL coach, said after the win: "I'm extremely proud of our U14s winning the National title. The girls have worked so hard in training and thoroughly deserve their win" More
