Preview: Hertfordshire Mavericks vs Manchester Thunder

Hertfordshire Mavericks travel to Manchester in the knowledge a win will leapfrog them above their rivals in the Vitality Netball Superleague table. But most importantly in this business end of the regular season, it would deal the Black and Yellows a huge physiological blow ahead of the play offs. Barring a disastrous drop in form, both sides should finish in the top four and most likely secure a home semi final fixture in the process.Thunder were victorious in the corresponding fixture in round five, but since then Mavericks are unbeaten, including a stunning victory over Surrey Storm at the Copperbox for Netball London Live they are a massive threat. This all sets things up perfectly for a close, high-tempo match at the Thunderdome on Saturday.  “We'll do our homework and look at what Mavericks have been doing the past couple of games. We have a fair idea of the style they play and I'm expecting it to be a very tough game,” said coach Dan Ryan. &#... Match Preview: Team Bath vs Manchester Thunder

It is expected to be one of the fixtures of the season when Manchester Thunder face team bath in round 10 of the Vitality Netball Superleague on Saturday. And Thunder know they will need to put in a significantly improved display compared to last time out against Celtic Dragon, where they limped to a three-goal victory in Cardiff.Coach Dan Ryan admitted after last week's lacklustre display that if Thunder didn't eradicate the errors, they would be' punished by the top ranked' sides'. This clash comes at an ideal time to right the wrongs and draw upon that blistering display when the sides met in the corresponding fixture, where the Black and Yellows blew Bath away with power and flair. A number of players have been off-colour in recent games and will be looking to regain their sharpness, and facing a top-four team should be ample motivation to do it.Bath will be full of confidence after thrashing Yorkshire Jets with a 30-goal margin in round nine, and they looked especially ... Celtic Dragons 51 vs 54 Manchester Thunder

Manchester Thunder laboured to a three goal win over Celtic Dragons in Cardiff.Thunder displayed patches of fluid and dominant form but they failed to make it count and they only out-scored Dragons in one quarter. It was a lacklustre and ultimately disappointing performance from the Black and Yellows and they will be relieved to leave Wales with a win.Coach Dan Ryan expected more from his players, especially with consistency in all four quarters. “Our focus going into the game was to be as clinical and consistent as possible as we haven't won four quarters for a couple of weeks now and we were really conscious of winning all four today but it didn't work out that way, which is pretty disappointing,” he said. “We made a lot of basic errors on our decision making and we played into their hands and kept giving them opportunities. We didn't learn from those mistakes and they kept happening. We need to rectify it as top ranked teams will punish us.&#x... More

Match Preview: Celtic Dragons vs Manchester Thunder

Manchester Thunder head into round nine of the Vitality Netball Superleague with confidence high. The Black and Yellows are looking for their third win on the bounce after coming through two tough ties against Yorkshire Jets and Team Northumbria. The aim is to finish in the top two at the end of the regular season, with the reward a home semi final tie. And with Thunder currently sitting pretty at the summit of the Superleague table, things are looking good. However coach Dan Ryan will be well aware his squad need to remain focused and composed if they are to keep up the momentum, as the disappointing loss to Surrey Storm will be a stark reminder that things won't always go to plan.On Saturday Thunder travel to Cardiff to take on Celtic Dragons who have had an indifferent season so far. But they are not to be underestimated after already securing two decent wins and Thunder have shown patchy form away from home. Thunder ran out victors by a 20-goal margin ... Manchester Thunder 65 v 51 Team Northumbria

Manchester Thunder clinched a deserved win over Team Northumbria in Newcastle in round eight of the Vitality Netball Superleague.Despite a poor third quarter, the Black and Yellows dominated for large periods of the game and ran out 51-65 winners. With an unassailable lead secured in the fourth, coach Dan Ryan opted to hand 18-year-old shooter Amy Clinton her Superleague debut. The Oldham star is the second player in a week to be handed her first chance in the Thunder dress, following wing attack Beccy Hoult's bow against Jets last time out.Thunder started at a blistering pace and powered into an early five-goal lead, bringing some impressive fluidity to their attacking play, showing their intent from the outset. Eleanor Cardwell was once again relishing her time on court and looked assured and confident in the circle, nailing some difficult shots and refusing to be bullied off the ball by an organised Team Northumbria defence. The Tameside shooter linked up well ... Match Preview: Team Northumbria vs Manchester Thunder

Manchester Thunder will be keen to put in a less nerve-shredding performance when they head to Newcastle this weekend, than the one they put out against Yorkshire Jets last time out.Their Rose Rivals came within minutes of securing a shock win, but a late surge from the Black and Yellows was enough to sneak the points.Team Northumbria will be no easy feat, with the North East outfit putting out some strong performances so far this season, most notably in their one-goal victory over top-four chasing Loughborough Lightning. But Thunder will be heartened by their win over their round eight opponents on the opening day of the Vitality Netball Superleague on Super Saturday. Regardless, Thunder coach Dan Ryan is wary of Northumbria's threat, and is focused on making sure his charges are ready for the challenge. He said: "We need to start fine-tuning our focus and Team Northumbria have had a couple of really good wins. They knocked off Lightning so they are going to be ...
