Ellie Cardwell Blog 2016

After a steady start to the season it was time to concentrate on the favourites of the competition, Team Bath who were winners of the Mike Greenwood Tournament and have been unbeaten so far. It’s always tough playing against bath at their home ground as their supporters are always loud, but we all know it’s time to step up our performance and show our mark in the competition. Training this week has been good highlighting key areas for us to improve and we’ve been able to sharpen up throughout the court and we felt ready to play Bath.

On Friday it was game day and there was a long journey ahead of us. Finally we arrived and we were there early to support NPL who had an amazing win over the Team Bath NPL. In the changing room Dan had created little quotes about us and we had to match each quote to the correct person, this certainly lightening the mood with some hilarious descriptions being read out. Now it was game time and what an exciting game to watch. Each player who hit the court played outstanding with not one weaknesses across the court. Our defence was looking strong getting interceptions from everywhere and our attack looked slick with Sara and liana using their skills to feed the circle with ease, making it easier for the shooters to slot in goals. We hit our targets for the game of being consistent across all quarters and everyone felt confident to take our performance into the Loughborough game on Monday.

It’s now time to rest up over the weekend and focus on the next game against Loughborough on Monday.
