Manchester Thunder are proud to launch our annual netball coaching conference, an exclusive event brought to you by popular demand, and hosted at Platt Lane Sports Complex, Manchester.
On the day, you will gain invaluable expertise from some HUGE netball names known around the world. This year we’re going bigger than ever, with sessions being led by netballing legends Sharni Layton and Tracey Neville MBE!
There will be opportunities to ask questions through each session.

Event Timelines
Chris Downham, Founder of Team Outliers combines physiotherapy-backed movement patterns with performance coaching to build durable, high-performing athletes. In this session, he’ll break down what makes a great warm-up, how the Outliers movement methodology applies to netball, and simple S&C strategies to support athletes safely.
This session focuses on developing the core skills and strategies required for effective one-on-one defence in netball. Participants will learn how to apply consistent pressure, deny space, and disrupt attacking flow through disciplined body positioning, footwork, and anticipation. The session emphasizes reading the game, maintaining vision on both player and ball, and adapting to different attacking styles.

Appropriate nutrition is essential for successful athletic performance. This workshop is designed to provide essential nutrition knowledge to coaches as well as how to encouraged positive fuelling for training and matches, why recovery is so important, and tips for tournaments. Ensuring coaches are aware of these topics will ensure consistent messaging, and reaffirm strong nutrition behaviours of young athletes.
This interactive workshop is designed to support netball coaches in developing purposeful, progressive training sessions that enhance their team’s ability to transition effectively into attack. Participants will explore practical frameworks for session planning, focusing on how to link technical skills, decision-making, and game based scenarios.
This session is designed to strengthen defensive connections and improve collaboration between players in the goal third and across the court. Through a combination of technical drills and tactical scenarios, participants will explore how to build trust, communicate effectively, and work as a unit to apply pressure, create turnovers, and shut down attacking combinations.
