I’m delighted with the squad we’ve built for the 2026 season. For me, it’s always important to maintain a solid core, inject freshness, and ensure flexibility with combinations across all units. I really believe we have three strong units that give us the ability to throw different styles at opponents and be a big threat.
It’s fantastic to have retained 8 of our 10 players from last season. This will allow us to solidify and grow the work we started, while continuing my passion for developing local athletes. With 70% of our squad made up of North West and Thunder pathway athletes, we’re showing that young players can dream of one day representing Thunder at Super League level.
Our defence unit of Elia, Nicola and Josie was rock-solid last year, and I’m excited to see their combinations develop further after producing some brilliant moments.
In the centre court, Amy really led the way as captain. She showed she has even more to give, and I’m looking forward to seeing her dominate again. Taylor and Emma really stood up last season and proved they are a force. We’re also thrilled to welcome Nat back from maternity. We’ll continue to support her in returning to the court in a way that works for her and her body.
Lois, despite missing much of the year through injury, returned like she had never been away— she’ll be a huge attacking threat in any combination. Finally, El and Sophie give us that injection of freshness. With SSN experience under their belts, they’ll add so much both on and off the court. I’m excited to see how dangerous they will be in our attacking line-ups. I can’t wait to get stuck in with this group and start the 2026 season. Thunder fans, we need you again—we can’t wait to see you in the stands, supporting us all the way!
