Leading North West insurance firm C&C Insurance Brokers is investing in the future of one of the UK’s fastest growing sports.
The Stockport based business has signed up to a new two-year sponsorship deal with Superleague team Manchester Thunder Netball and follows an amazing year for the sport. For the first time, the England team snatched victory against Australia at the Commonwealth Games, winning Gold by just one point to beat Australia 52-51 in the final. The team’s achievements in Australia resulted in them winning two awards at this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year show.
Popularity is growing across the UK too. In 2018, spectator numbers at Manchester Thunder grew by over a third over the 2017 season and in 2019 the majority of games will be at their new home, Belle Vue, which has capacity to double the number of spectators.
2019 also sees the Netball World Cup take place in the North West with the world’s best players travelling to Liverpool in July.
Malcolm Cooke, Managing Director of C&C Insurance Brokers Ltd spoke of the great opportunities for C&C to support one of the fastest growing sports in the UK:
“We are delighted to further extend our partnership with Manchester Thunder. The dedication and passion of the leaders, coaches and team is inspirational to many young netball players throughout the country and we wish them all the best.”
As well as the C&C logo appearing on Manchester Thunder’s match dress, the company will have a presence on match days and are committed to invest in young talented netballers from across the North West who are engaged in Manchester Thunder’s Performance Pathway.
Debbie Hallas, Manchester Thunder managing director, added:
“The investment from C&C Insurance Brokers in the future of Manchester Thunder and netball in the North West is an exciting sign of the growth of our sport in a crucial year ahead of the World Cup in Liverpool in July.
”This coming Superleague season promises to be the most exciting yet with a new line-up, some of the world’s best players and more attention than ever before. There is no better time for businesses to be part of that, and we’re delighted Malcolm and his team have recognised that potential.”
