Manchester Thunder 64 vs 50 Hertfordshire Mavericks

Manchester Thunder finished the regular season with a brilliant win over Hertfordshire Mavericks at the Thunderdome. From defence through to attack, the Black and Yellows were on the money and despite a spirited fightback from Mavericks in the third quarter - and the introduction of star shooter Sammy Wallace at half time - Thunder ran out comfortable winners. The match was the rescheduled game between the pair after the original fixture was abandoned due to a roof leak, and confirmed Thunder will play Team Bath in the semi finals, while Mavericks will take on London rivals Surrey Storm for a place in the final at the Copperbox on May 7. Thunder were especially prolific in defence, with Jamaican Malysha Kelly combining well with Jodie Gibson and Emma Dovey slotted right into the game when she replaced the young England defender. However at the root of everything good Thunder did was captain Sara Bayman, who again showed why she is so pivotal to her team's ... Manchester Thunder 67 v 43 Yorkshire Jets

Manchester Thunder powered to an emphatic 67-43 victory over their Roses Rivas Yorkshire Jets at the Manchester Arena.A sluggish start lulled the crowd into thinking it was going to be a much closer affair, but a brutal second and third quarter from the Black and yellows blew Jets away. The visitors had no answer to Thunder tenacity and speed, however Maria Lutua was a real bright spark for Jets in attack, with captain Stacey Frances once again colossal in defence.Thunder coach Dan Ryan was full of praise for his side's overall performance. "I thought towards the end of the second quarter we were getting our timing and connection right and we hit some great momentum in the third. Kathryn Turner was sensational with her timing and connection with Ellie and for a player that has spent a lot of the season on the bench, it was a real tick in the box for her," he said "We started slowly and I think that was maybe the hype and build up and a different environment for ... Manchester Thunder 64 v 56 Surrey Storm

Manchester Thunder earned a gutsy win over defending champions Surrey Storm, to avenge their home loss earlier in the season. The Black and Yellows put in a controlled and determined performance to take a deserved eight-goal win 56-64 at Surrey Sports Park. Coach Dan Ryan was pleased with his side's measured and patient showing, especially as his players keep cool heads throughout, especially in defence, when their opposition began to lose theirs. "The player stuck to task really well in  defence and attack even when they were challenged at various times in the game by a very good Storm team," he said. "We really kept our heads no attack. This time we  were prepared to work the ball around and have the confidence to know that the opportunities would open up if we did what we needed to do. Mally (Kelly) had a job to do and got Rachel Dunn into a pretty awkward position so I had the luxury of bringing on Kerry Almond in the final quarter"Thunder's composure ...
