Manchester Thunder launched their new season with two convincing victories over the Knights Men 85-69 and Loughborough Lightning 64-52.
The Knights Men, a team who regularly play a friendlies against Superleague and Premier League teams, offer a different dynamic of opposition and a good physical test. Thunder’s shooters Joyce Mvula and Eleanor Cardwell stood up to the test and alongside Kathryn Turner they kept the scoreboard ticking over at a good rate.
Captain Emma Dovey had a particularly feisty contest in the defensive circle and led the way for Thunder’s first victory of the day. After the game the Thunder fans flocked onto the court for a meet and greet opportunity with the players, who signed everything from netballs to t-shirts while engaging with their loyal fans.

Another Superleague season is almost upon us.
Players are back in pre-season training and many familiar faces will return to play in the Black and Yellow dress for another year.
And while we've said goodbye to some during the off-season, we have also welcomed back others into the Thunder family.
Let's take a look at the squad, which players could be set to shine and who will be wanting to end their Thunder career by lifting the Superleague trophy.
